An international seminar in the Water quality and environmental education was organized by the SEVIRA project in the city of Vyborg in Russia on March 19th 2019 to enhance cooperation between Russia and Finland. It was again seen how important it is to involve and raise awareness of common public by understanding their needs, providing and organizing services and activities they need to sustainably improve quality of their nearby nature.
Seminar provided a great opportunity for educators to discuss with the Vyborg administration the Colation of Clean Baltic and the Finnish Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment. Educators from Russia and Finland shared knowledge of available data, service as well as popular methods for water quality measurements. Project coordinator Anna Kryukova explained that surveys are carried out during the SEVIRA project in order to better understand what educators really need. We expect to see Wiki-service that speaks both Russian and Finnish to promote continuous cooperation.
