NORDUST-2 (Nordic road dust research project)
NorDust II is a common Nordic road dust research project gathering world leading Nordic competence in the research area to improve the understanding of the road dust system for optimization of abatement measures by improved emission modelling and scenario analyses. It builds on the knowledge produced during the NorDust project. The project content is based on the needs of the road authorities and the need for realistic descriptions of the physical processes in the road dust system used in the NORTRIP emission model as well as on knowledge from previous road dust related projects, especially NorDust. This will enable a more robust basis for studying different street maintenance and dust control methods in order to formulate strategies to reduce dust loads and emissions in varying street and road environments.
The project work involves laboratory and field studies as well as modelling, aiming to complete and improve the knowledge base built up in the NorDust project. This involves further studies on emission processes, dust load dynamics (including the water bound phase), abatement measures, microplastics in road dust and NORTRIP model development.
