KATOA: Dust nuisances from streets and roads: Monitoring, Management and evaluation of the effectiveness of road dust emission reduction measures
Objectives:
- Continue research on sources and emission reduction of road dust along the path indicated in previous KAPU, NASTA, REDUST and KALPA projects
- To find out the factors influencing road dust emissions and concentrations as well as the proportions of different sources in different street sites and environments
- Identify the most effective emission reduction opportunities and facilitate their deployment
- Provide relevant and up-to-date information to meet the objectives of the National Air Protection Program 2030.
In order to achieve the goals, road dust is measured and modeled using various methods suitable for the purpose. In addition, existing data will be utilized, and time series will be continued at sites that have largely been the subject of measurements and intensified road dust control measures since 2006.
